In the picturesque village of Sarigyugh, Anush Amirkhanian and her family ventured into cultivating saffron, a high-value crop in the region. With a modest beginning in 2014, they imported 100 saffron bulbs from the Netherlands to test its viability in the Armenian soil, laying the foundation for Sari Safran.
Recognizing the challenges posed by unfavorable climate conditions in drying processes, Anush sought support from RED-NEO. The intervention proved pivotal, providing a transformative electric dryer, valued at $9,500, that not only facilitated efficient saffron drying but also resolved damage issues encountered with conventional ovens.
Beyond local success, Sari Safran expanded its reach globally, exporting products to Switzerland and the USA through the Buy Armenian platform. Anush’s vision, coupled with RED-NEO’s vital support, transformed Sari Safran into a thriving saffron enterprise, bringing economic growth to Sarigyugh and showcasing the power of strategic intervention in agricultural ventures.
