In the heart of Armenia, where viticulture and winemaking have thrived for 6,100 years, the Jraghatspanyan family has transformed age-old traditions into a thriving winemaking legacy.
Originating from Western Armenia, they settled in the district of the Ararat valley, renowned for its ancient winemaking heritage. In the 1890s, the family’s commitment to their craft led them to establish vineyards, construct an underground cellar, and produce wines that have become a living testament to their ancestral roots.
The support from the USAID-funded RED-NEO program has enabled the Jraghatspanyans to both preserve their rich winemaking heritage and innovate their production techniques by outfitting their facility with contemporary winemaking equipment. The establishment of a wine- tasting hall, financed through the program, has turned it into a beloved destination for wine lovers. Here, visitors can immerse themselves in the fusion of traditional and modern winemaking practices, savor Jarghatspanyan’s unique wines, and enjoy a break away from urban life.
