Some of Armenia’s most delicious and healthy celery and arugula come from Farmenia, a farm in Achajur, Tavush marz. USAID has supported product production by helping the owners, Green Brothers Company, build their business. This in turn helps them increase production, support local employment and strengthen the local economy of the community.
Last week, U.S. Ambassador Lynne M. Tracy visited Farmenia and was impressed by the establishment: Farmenia provides employment opportunities to community members, while also growing delicious, healthy products.
She noted: “It is a joy to visit projects like this that help promote rural entrepreneurship, improve production, and help forge local partnerships between businesses and their community for sustainable results.” Celery/arugula production and the cold storage facility is supported by USAID through the Rural Economic Development – New Economic Opportunities (RED-NEO) project.
