Raising Awareness on Trafficking and Exploitation

The RED-NEO team introduced a new training course under its program to enhance knowledge about trafficking and exploitation, titled “Awareness of the Phenomenon of Trafficking and Exploitation in the Work Environment.” This course aimed to raise awareness among employers and potential victims about human trafficking and exploitation, helping them recognize its signs and understand relevant legislative measures to aid in prevention. The issue is particularly relevant in rural areas, where family members, often men, migrate abroad for work, leaving women involved in local agricultural activities and at high risk of exploitation. Thus, the course targets both employers and vulnerable groups.

The training sessions were held in Talin (Aragatsotn region) with 11 participants, primarily employers; in Vanadzor (Lori region) with 12 participants, mainly from vulnerable groups; and in Abovyan (Kotayk region) with 15 participants, mostly from vulnerable groups. During the sessions, two cases were identified involving women forcibly displaced from Artsakh. The expert provided information on where and how to seek help, as well as contact details for responsible support organizations.
